According to the osha.gov website, December 1, 2013 is the deadline for all companies to train employees on the new label elements (pictograms, hazard statements, precautionary statements, signal words) and the structure of Safety Data Sheets.
The Globally Harmonized System is an international approach to hazard communication, providing agreed criteria for classification of chemical hazards, and a standardized approach to label elements and safety data sheets. The GHS is based on major existing systems around the world, including OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard and the chemical classification and labeling systems of other US agencies.
2013 Seminar Class Descriptions:
 HAZWOPER 40 hour Initial class - The HAZWOPER 40 hour class is required for workers that perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances. |
40 hour HAZWOPER Training: This is initial Certification training
for any site worker involved with Hazardous Materials. This class is
specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up
operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response
operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances
or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against
hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of
workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This is HAZWOPER
Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation,
videos, exercises, “mock” drills, and class discussion. This class
follows the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard: 29 CFR 1910.120. Each student, after
completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card. Price: $500.00 per person. 40 hour HAZWOPER Training is offered Monday through Friday at Safety Helpers training facilities nationwide. |
 HAZWOPER 24 hour Initial class - The HAZWOPER 24 hour class is required for employees visiting an Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operation mandated by the Government . Part-time or occasional site workers that perform activities that expose or potentially expose them to hazardous substances are required to take the 24 hour class. |
24 hour HAZWOPER Training: This is initial Certification training for “Part time” or occasional site visitors, involved with Hazardous Materials. This class covers broad issues pertaining to the hazard recognition at work sites. This course, while identifying different types of hazards, also suggests possible precautions and protective measures to reduce or eliminate hazards at the work place. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This is HAZWOPER Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, “mock” drills, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard: 29 CFR 1910.120. Each student, after completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card. Price: $400.00 per person. 24 hour HAZWOPER Training is offered Tuesday through Thursday at Safety Helpers training facilities nationwide. |
 HAZWOPER 8 hour Annual Refresher class - The HAZWOPER 8 hour Refresher class is required to be taken annually to keep current, 40 or 24 hour HAZWOPER certification. |
8 hour HAZWOPER Refresher Training: This is annual Refresher training for 40 hour and 24 hour HAZWOPER certified individuals. This class meets the requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for eight hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This class is designed for general site workers who are potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards. Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, safety and health plans, hazardous chemicals, safety hazards, air monitoring, medical surveillance, site control, decontamination, personal protective equipment, and respiratory equipment. This is HAZWOPER Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, “mock” drills, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA HAZWOPER Standard: 29 CFR 1910.120. Each student, after completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card. Price: $100.00 per person. 8 hour HAZWOPER Refresher Training is offered Friday’s at Safety Helpers training facilities nationwide. |
 DOT - Hazardous Material Transportation class - The DOT – Hazardous Material Transportation class is required for any worker involved in the shipment of Hazardous Materials by ground. This class satisfies all ground hazmat carrier requirements including FedEx and UPS. It is intended for both initial and recurrent training of persons working with hazardous materials as required by the Department of Transportation. This certification needs to be refreshed every 3 years. |
DOT HAZMAT Transportation Training: This is initial Certification training for workers who ship, receive, or transport Hazardous Materials by ground. The DOT – Hazardous Material Transportation class is required for any worker involved in the shipment of Hazardous Materials by ground. This class cover topics included in 49 CFR 172.704. Topics covered in this class include: define the term hazardous materials, navigating through the Hazardous Materials Regulations, locating given sections of the HMR, summarizing who must comply with the Hazardous Materials Regulations, which packages and containers the HMR apply to. Must Renew every 3 years. This is HAZMAT Shipping Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, and class discussion. This class follows the Code of Federal Regulation Standard: 49 CFR 172.704. Each student, after completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card. Price: $200.00 per person. DOT HAZMAT Transportation Training is offered Monday’s at Safety Helpers training facilities nationwide. |
 Scaffolding Training class - The Scaffolding Training class is required for any worker involved in scaffolding among Construction sites. |
Scaffolding Training: This is basic Competent Person (Inspection) training for frame, tube & coupler, and "system" type scaffolds. Topics include detailed coverage of the OSHA scaffold regulations, as well as recommended assembly procedures. This is Scaffolding Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA Construction and Scaffolding Standards: 29 CFR 1910.28 & 29 CFR 1926.451. Each student, after completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card.  Trenching & Excavation Training Class - The Trenching Training class is required for any worker involved in trenching or excavation among Construction sites. |
Trenching and Excavation Training: This is basic Competent Person (Inspection) training for proper Trenching and Excavation procedures. Topics include detailed coverage of the OSHA Trenching/Excavation regulations, as well as recommended trenching/excavation procedures. This is Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA Construction and Trenching and Excavation Standards: 29 CFR 1926.104 & 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P.  Confined Space Entry Training Class - The Confined Space Entry Training class is required for any worker who works in or around a permit required confined space. |
Confined Space Entry Training: This is basic Awareness Certification training for confined space entry. Topics include detailed coverage of the OSHA Confined Space regulations, as well as required safety procedures. This is Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA Confined Space Standards: 29 CFR 1910.146. Each student, after completion of the final exam, receives a certificate and wallet card. Price: $200.00 per person.  Lock Out Tag Out Training Class - The Lock Out Tag Out class is required for any worker who must understand the "Lock Out, Tag Out" procedures. |
Lock Out Tag Out Training: This is basic Competent Person training for Lock Out, Tag Out procedures. Topics include detailed coverage of the OSHA Lock Out, Tag Out regulations, as well as proper Employee “Lock out/Tag out” procedures. This is Instructor-Led classroom training, includes Instructor presentation, videos, exercises, and class discussion. This class follows the OSHA Lockout/Tagout Standards: 29 CFR 1910.147.  HAZWOPER Hands On Training 8 hour Instructor-Led class - This 8 hour Public Seminar Class is the FINAL Step to complete your 40 hour HAZWOPER certification. Prerequisite = Student must watch the 32 hour HAZWOPER DVD before attending. |
HAZWOPER "Hands On" Training: This eight hour Instructor-Led HAZWOPER Training, dressout (Donning and Doffing), and final exam satisfies the OSHA HAZWOPER Standards under 29 CFR 1910.120. Note: Students must have watched the 32 hour HAZWOPER DVD available from SafetyHelpers.com before registering for this training.
